Project Description

After being completely refurbished in 2012, the Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge is both elegant and simplistic. With the main area elevated atop a cliff with glorious views over the Save River and into the Gonarezhou National Park as it stretches along the Zimbabwean-Mozambican border.

The lodge itself is large and open, all built out of stone, timber and thatch. This gives guests the authentic and homely African feel. Due to its position, the lodge and its guests alike benefit from picturesque views available from both the main area and the chalets. The large pool is definitely a focal point, taking advantage of the surrounding vistas allowing for guests to eat out under the stars whilst gazing upon the varying sites available.

Enjoy a sundowner along the Save River, or take part in the 3 day challenge that the lodge has uniquely developed for its more adventurous guests. The expedition includes a 3 day and night journey that takes you across the Save and Runde Rivers to Tembwehata and Machanu water ways. Then you are ascending to the highest part of the Gonarezhou to enjoy all that this spectacular park has to offer. This journey showcases the areas diverse wildlife and exceptional birdlife that all call this region home. The trip is expertly guided and is a truly unique experience for any safari enthusiast.

Chilo Gorge Safari Lodge has 10 luxury king or twin bed chalets with en-suite bathroom and private balcony. Nhambo Camp, which is situated slightly away from the main camp, offers 4 self-catering double chalets with en-suite bathroom, private plunge pool, kitchen and BBQ area as well as one family chalet with the same facilities. The main area has a restaurant, a lounge, a bar and a small library as well as a viewing deck with large infinity pool.
