Project Description

Located about 44km from the Bulawayo ‘city of kings’ town, sits TripAdvisor 2017 certificate of excellence winner; Matobo Hills Lodge.

The Lodge boasts of phenomenal views from the bar area where one can see the magnificent rock boulders in the distance combined with vegetation. All one longs for when you get to this place is to sit and marvel as you are surrounded by the quietness…

The Lodge was built in 1992 and all rooms are rock under thatch, which makes them blend in with the environment. On site are 4 double rooms, 3 family rooms (that take 2 adults and 2 children per room) and 11 twin rooms. The rooms have ceiling fans, a tea and coffee station, ensuite (with shower and bath tub) and charging stations for guest convenience.

The Lodge is run on electricity and there is a backup generator in the event of a power outage. Solar energy is a project that is soon coming. Wifi is available in the bar area and there is also a conference room seating 150 people, making the lodge a great location for weddings and other events.

Guests can decide whether they want to stay on a Bed and Breakfast basis, Dinner, Bed and Breakfast basis or fully inclusive basis, which means all meals and one activity included per day. These options exclude drinks. For meals, guests are seated with their travel company to promote friendships and family time.

Bush dinners can be arranged either prior your stay or on the ground with management. Hike trails are available close to the lodge. Hikes are also available with a guide together with activities such as rhino tracking, a visit to Rhodes grave or a visit to the caves for the rock paintings. The cave paintings at the Silozwane cave are found 21km from the lodge. Game drives are done in one of the vehicles which is either the 7 seater or the 17 seater vehicle depending on number of guests.

Around camp you will be pleasantly surprised to see warthog, klipspringers, antelopes, waterbuck and sometimes leopard.

The staff members at Matobo hills are looking forward to making your stay memorable!
