Project Description
Shumba Camp stands in the centre of a breath-taking wilderness surrounded by the open Busanga Floodplains and wetlands. The entire camp is elevated, with the clear intention of maximising the viewing opportunities for its guests. Puku, lechwe and hippo sightings are all possible from this vantage point, making guests down time just as exciting as their daily activities.
With their hands on approach and excellent service, the Shumba Camp aims at providing their guests with a true African experience, but never skimping on the luxuries of a holiday.
The 6 spacious luxury safari tents as well as the family unit offer en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers. The main area has a dining room, a lounge with bar, a traditional outside Boma and a wine cellar. There is also an elevated viewing deck, a plunge pool and a curio shop.
Shumba Camp is situated in the midst of various lion pride territories and is said to provide some of the best lion viewing in Africa. Lions are even often seen in and around camp. The area is also perfectly situated to see large numbers of plains game such as puku, red lechwe, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, oribi, buffalo and wildebeest. For birding enthusiasts, there are 491 species to look out for.
Make sure to take a hot air balloon safari when at Shumba! Gaze over scenic splendour, watch hippo playing far below and fly eye-to-eye with an eagle. This experience ends with a champagne breakfast and is available from August to October.
