I first went to Bulawayo, Zimbabwe as an Au Pair. The day I landed on the tiny airport and smelt the African September heat, I fell in love with the country.

6 month later, I went back to Austria and studied Tourism & Leisure Management. Afterwards I gained a lot of experience in the finest hotels and restaurants in Europe. However, my heart was longing to go back to Africa. I finally returned to Zimbabwe in 2009 – the year when the currency changed to the US-Dollar. Suddenly an unbelievable optimism was sweeping through the country. When I was offered a job and the chance to stay, I cancelled the flight back to Europe. I wanted to be part of this rise.

Working in the tourism industry I learned a lot about southern Africa and travelled as much as possible to experience it first-hand. In 2011 I established my own travel agency, The Safari Source. I fulfilled my dream to offer my clients tailor-made safaris, adjusted to their wishes. I simply love my job!

As a young girl, I was often found alone, under a tree reading a book or taking walks in some of the beautiful paths in Burnside, a suburb of Bulawayo, that I grew up in. This is very unusual for a young African girl!

When I finished high school, I decided to study tourism at the Zimbabwe College, although back then I didn’t have a clue where this would take me. Deep inside I really loved travel and discovering the world but first of all discovering what Africa has to offer. There were so many things I didn’t know even about my own country. 3 years later, I found myself in a place where my heart just longed to learn more about travel, hospitality and guest experiences.

My passion grew and I was privileged to get involved with Tailormade Safaris at age 20. This exposed me to travelling and getting to interact with guests from different backgrounds and cultures which was truly a wonder. A few years down the line, I have discovered the more that I love tourism! And though there is still so much to learn I want to share what I know with many that have their hearts open to discovering the beauty of what African nature holds for them and what travel can expose them to!
