Project Description

Families, single travellers and small groups – whoever is looking for affordable and good accommodation in Bulawayo will stumble over the Travellers Guest House. It’s ideally located in a suburb of Bulawayo – close to town but yet away from the busy city centre.

With only 13 rooms, Mrs Visser and her team keep the balance between a personal atmosphere and having enough space to accommodate and cater for groups of up to 30 guests. Very attractive to the visitors is the variety of the facilities as well as the efficient service from the team. Guests can book bed & breakfast or prepare their own meals in the spacious communal kitchen. Well-equipped and clean, the kitchen and dining room cater for everyone’s needs. The communal facilities are well blended into the rest of the property. Whilst the whole lodge compound is not big, the setup is very smartly done, allowing for privacy and space. The lovely garden surrounds the inviting swimming pool and the Braai Area which is at the visitor’s disposal.

Some of the 13 rooms have been refurbished already to give the standard rooms a more modern touch. The remaining basic rooms will undergo a remodelling over the next couple of month. All rooms are equipped with a cosy bed – convertible into double/twin beds – en-suite bathroom, with basin, toilet and shower and some rooms have bathtubs. The suites have full DSTV whilst the other guests have access to the TV in the Entertainment Lounge. Travellers Guest House is basic but clean, inviting and one finds what is needed.

The rooms and property have been decorated lovingly and tastefully, arty pieces can be found everywhere. In case guests do not want to cater for themselves, they can order take-away from town or the adjacent New Orleans restaurant and still enjoy their meal at the Travellers Guest House.

The value for money at the Travellers Guest House is excellent. If the lodge is fully booked it can become busy. However, most of the times, guests spread out with quite a few being business travellers who are mainly out and about. We love that all guests have access to a fully equipped kitchen and a braai area.
