Project Description

41Km southwest (approximately 1hr 20mins drive) of Hwange main camp or a 45 minutes transfer time from Manga airstrip, you find Verney’s Safari Camp. Verney’s is a private concession and is located in an mostly un-used part of Hwange National Park, providing unspoilt wilderness!

The location of the camp is stunning. The camp area is lined by teak forests, and opens up onto a pan and an impressive waterhole. The camp comprises of eight tented ensuite twin/double rooms that are luxurious and spacious! Hot and cold water is available for the showers in the rooms.

Families are also catered for, as there are two family rooms that can take a family of four with two separate bathrooms so that the children do not have to share with the parents.

Rooms have standing fans for the hotter months and the cooler boxes have cold drinks to keep guests refreshed. In the winter months, guests’ beds are made warm with hot water bottles and ponchos are provided in the vehicles for warmth on the game drives.

The camp is run on solar energy (there is a solar plant on site with 200 solar panels!) for all the geysers, fridges, ironing and lighting. Solar panels are also used to pump the water into the pan located in front of the camp.

Food, Fun and Flexibility are the camps core values.

FOOD; during all meals in the main area, guests will have the opportunity to watch their meals being prepared, interact with the chef one on one and give input on how they prefer their meals to be prepared.

FUN; guests are treated to different activities in the camp to break from the normal ‘routine’, for example, guests will enjoy a bush lunch or bush breakfast. They also will experience traditional meals made the Zimbabwe way and the children get to do marshmallow roasting, games, listen to storytelling by the guides and star gazing.

FLEXIBILITY; Tailormade wake up times and activity schedules specified to the guests desires and preferences are offered. Guests get to adjust meal times to preference as long as it is in the communicated range of times for the particular meal.

Verneys also promotes projects within the local community. During the guests’ stay, they have the chance to visit the local villages for a full day and interact with the community and schools, to get an appreciation of the life of the villagers. Guests may also donate to the community, if they please.

The camp has five vehicles that take six guests each, so there is enough space for everybody!

The camp currently runs on 36 employees inclusive of managerial staff, guides, chefs and kitchen attendants, hosts and general hand. Their sole responsibility is to make your stay memorable.

To make most of the camp, we recommend a minimum of three nights. The staff at Verney’s camp cannot wait to host you!
