Project Description

Tucked away on the lower slopes of a tree-covered hillside in the Eastern district of Zimbabwe lies a delightful little leisure resort named Musangano, meaning ‘the place where people meet’.

Musangano Lodge is situated 2 ½ hours by car from the capital city of Harare and ½ hour from the border town of Mutare. It is ideally located for exploring the attractions of the Eastern Highlands.

Whether you are looking for a weekend retreat to relax with family and friends or want to have a conference in quiet surroundings, Musangano Lodge offers a comprehensive range of facilities that will suit your requirements.

Visitors soon fall under its spell and realize that it is not just a meeting place because its peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, comfortable accommodation, excellent cuisine and splendid views invite to linger and unwind.

Musangano Lodge offers its guests a fine range of exciting outdoor activities, from swimming and games, nature walks and birdwatching, to hiking and biking or day trips to some of the special attractions of the Eastern Highlands.

The cosy dining room and the spacious garden restaurant have acquired a reputation for serving delicious food. The cuisine is a blend of Central European and Southern African cooking – the best of the culinary arts of two worlds.

Musangano Lodge offers spacious accommodation under thatch for up to 32 guests. All units are tastefully furnished, of a high finish and decorated in ethnic style to create a homely and cosy atmosphere. They are well-spaced for privacy and yet only a few minutes away from the restaurant and reception area. The well-equipped lodges and chalets blend well into the Miombo Mountain Woodland and create a warm ethnic ambience. From the covered porches visitors will appreciate the spectacular distant views across the broad Odzi River Valley towards the dramatic granite ramparts of the Eastern Highlands.
The self-catering lodges are ideal for families with en-suite bathrooms and spacious living area. They are also fully equipped with cooking utensils and outside private braai stand. 3 of the lodges have 2 bedrooms, 1 has even 3 bedrooms. The 5 chalets sleep two guests and are provided with a tea-kitchenette.

The main area has a restaurant, a large recreational area with swimming pool, table tennis and outdoor game facilities. There is also a well-appointed conference centre, much sought after as a venue for workshops and seminars. The secluded and quiet gardens exude a serene atmosphere, creating a good working environment.
